Benefits of the 2024 E-bike Scheme

This initiative by Punjab’s Chief Minister offers several advantages for students:

  1. Easy Travel to Educational Institutions: Students can conveniently travel to their schools or colleges with their electric bikes, making commuting hassle-free.
  2. Reduced Environmental Pollution: By opting for electric bikes, students contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment by reducing pollution.
  3. Financial Savings: With affordable installment plans, students will save money on transportation expenses.

Launch Date and Payment Details

The distribution of bikes is set to begin on May 19 after the completion of the registration process. To acquire a bike, students need to make an initial payment of Rs. 25,000. After that, they’ll need to pay a monthly installment of Rs. 10,000 for the electric bike. The best part? These bikes come with zero interest, ensuring students don’t have to worry about extra financial burdens.

Total Bikes Available

The Punjab government aims to provide a total of 20,000 bikes, including 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes. This move is a significant effort to meet the transportation needs of students, whether they live in urban or rural areas.

Quota Allocation for Fair Distribution

To ensure fairness, separate quotas have been set for urban and rural areas. In urban regions, bikes will be split equally between male and female students, while in rural areas, there’s a 70-30 split favoring male students. This allocation strategy aims to give all students fair access to bikes, regardless of where they live.

  1. Punjab Residency: Applicants must be residents of Punjab.
  2. Age: Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old.
